Rooted in Community: Why Rescue Dogs (and Plumbing) Are Close to

May 19, 2025

Local pup Wednesday is in the adoption spotlight for National Rescue Dog Day, Pflugerville TX, 2025.

At Lone Star Plumbing Works, we do more than fix pipes. We’re here to serve people and pets across Central Texas, and today we’re celebrating something close to home: National Rescue Dog Day (May 20, 2025).

You’ve probably noticed by now that dogs are part of our brand. Mo-Mo, our Australian cattle dog and company mascot, makes sure of that. He reminds us that loyalty, protection, and showing up when it matters most aren’t just traits of good plumbing - they’re traits of good people too.

Meet Wednesday

This year, we’re using our platform to spotlight a local rescue pup who’s waited long enough. Her name is Wednesday, and she’s been living at the Pflugerville Animal Shelter since October. She’s 6 years old, medium-sized (about 50 pounds), and one of the longest residents at the shelter. Calm, sweet, and ready for her pforever home, Wednesday is a perfect example of why rescue dogs deserve our attention and care.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, her adoption fee has been waived permanently. That makes Wednesday a “pfree” pup just waiting for the right person to walk in.

You can meet her at the City of Pflugerville Animal Shelter, and the staff will be happy to share more of her story.

Why It Matters

We work in homes every day. We see the bowls tucked under sinks and the nose smudges on glass doors. We know pets aren’t just animals, they’re family. And in Central Texas, we’re lucky to have shelters like PAWS that work hard to protect these family members before they’re even adopted.

So whether you’re booking us to inspect a leak or just here browsing, we invite you to take a minute and help spread the word. Supporting rescue animals is one way we stay grounded in the community that supports us.

A Little Plumbing Wisdom

🐾 Mo-Mo would probably say, “Choose people who care about dogs and make sure your water heater has a drain pan.” We couldn’t agree more.

If we can help with anything plumbing-related, just give us a shout. And if your heart has room for a new family member, Wednesday is ready to meet you.
